Experts in precision welding and CNC machining

Family-owned and operated for more than 20 years, Custom Heliarc Welding and Machine, Inc., was the dream of Michael D. Gannon Sr. While working as a tool and die repair technician for another New Jersey company, Mike started his own business in his Mansfield, N.J., garage, with his son, Michael D. Gannon Jr. Mike Jr. was still in high school when they bought their first machine, a welder. Then came a second welder, then a manual lathe and a surface grinder. By 1997, their garage shop business was doing well enough for Mike Jr. to quit his fulltime job as foreman of a machine shop and join his father full time.

The company he left became one of their customers! The Gannons moved their growing company to a rented location in nearby Pennsylvania in 1998, and a year later purchased a building in Columbia, New Jersey. At the same time, they bought a Hardinge Cobra 51 CNC lathe, their first Computer Numerically Controlled machine. At that time, Hardinge was THE name in the industry for precision lathe work, and word of mouth about their Hardinge lathe brought in new work and new customers. The following year, they acquired a second Cobra 51 and a Haaf VF 1 CNC machining center, and the business was off and running with a shopful of CNC equipment and a growing staff of seasoned machinist and welders.

In 2010 Michael Gannon Sr. decided to turn full control of the business over to Mike Jr. and move to a part time consulting position. Michael Gannon Jr. continued to expand and grow the business with outstanding employees with great work ethics. As of January 2015 Custom Heliarc relocated from 4000 square foot building in Columbia NJ into 17,000 square feet in Mount Bethel PA.
